Chiara Sarter is a multi-faceted creative being, a walker between worlds. She is a multi-media artist with a printmaking specialty as well as a clinical sexologist.

Sexological methodology

Chiara completed professional sex coaching training and certification in clinical sexology through the premiere program Sex Coach U, with the mother of Sex Coaching Dr. Patti Britton. She also has over a decade of experience in the field of behavior science, with specialized training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Enhanced Choice Model (ECM) and more assent- based and holistic models of human behavior and sexuality.

Chiara believes that pleasure is essential to realizing our potential as humans.

Thus, she supports clients with learning the reaches of their pleasure spectrums, including how to access more pleasure and fulfillment in everyday experiences. She also helps clients address more acute issues related to sexuality and sexual self expression.

Chiara applies an intersectional lens and utilizes humanistic, non-pathological and assent-based methods to aide individuals in harnessing their authentic erotic power.

Artist Statement

Chiara is experienced with many varied artistic mediums, but at some point fell in love with relief printmaking. Through investigation of her generational history of textile arts, she has perfected the art of block printing on fabric, loving the three-dimensional quality created through texture and movement. Additionally, she carves images from paper or utilizes papercut to enhance a printed image, throwing shadows to enhance the physical environment.

The process of relief printmaking involves the whole body, mind and spirit: each step is a meditation, from the original design to the final print. She spends months carving a single image that is printed many times, each print unique unto itself.

Chiara’s work in behavior science and sexology affect her prints as she explores the human condition and our relational impact as well as investigates the power and uses of the erotic. Utilizing her degree in Biology and love of the outdoors, she considers the relationship between humans and nature and how we might continue to heal symbiotically. She also explores the intersection of animal life and land, capturing fleeting moments in time; Figures are often swallowed by the vastness of nature or depicted in motion, showing the temporality of being alive for just a moment compared to the surrounding land. Within this, cycles of death and rebirth, regeneration and decay, are insinuated. By working at a large scale and incorporating environmental details, she seeks to transport the viewer into the image.
